The Niskayuna Central School District has an opening and is now accepting applications for Director of Secondary Special Education.ASSIGNMENT: 11 Month positionRESPONSIBILITIES:1. Plans, directs, and supervises the special education and section 504 programs. 2. Assists with the development of strategic goals/objectives related to all Response to Intervention, special education and section 504 programs. 3. Coordinates and administers special education programs within the district and with BOCES, including summer school. 4. Assures the development and use of processes for evaluating and placing students with disabilities into appropriate instructional settings and programs, with required related services. 5. Completes all paperwork associated with special education including but not limited to grants, reports, state aid forms, and STACS. 6. Assures district compliance with all State and Federal Special Education requirements. 7. Evaluates instructional programs through the continuous analysis of data. 8. Collaborates with building principals for the provision of professional development for special education faculty and staff. 9. Maintains manual and electronic documents, files, and records for the purpose of providing accurate information in compliance with regulatory requirements. 10. Acts as the appropriate CSE/CPSE Chairperson. 11. Hires, supervises and evaluates special education faculty and staff, in conjunction with the building principals. 12. Serves as an advisor to building principals and offers assistance as needed. 13. In conjunction with the Director of PPS, develops budget for respective area of responsibility. 14. Attends meetings and carries out other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:1. Comprehensive curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional development experience 2. Expertise in strategic planning, decision-making and team facilitation 3. Minimum of five years of teaching experience 4.
