Position: Assistant Principal (12 Month) – Middle/High School Start Date: August 1, 2026 Certification: New York State certification as a School Building Leader is required Job Description: The district is seeking: An innovative, energetic, and collaborative leader with a proven track record of working alongside experienced and dedicated faculty and staff to drive meaningful outcomes. A visible and effective communicator who connects authentically with teachers, staff, families, and students, and values their voice in the decision-making process. A passionate advocate for student empowerment who understands that high expectations and genuine support are not in conflict. A leader with deep knowledge of instructional practice, including curriculum design, assessment, differentiation, and what high-quality Tier 1 instruction looks like across content areas and grade levels. A systems thinker with demonstrated experience implementing and sustaining a Multi-Tiered System of Supports, including the structures, data practices, and collaborative processes that ensure every student receives the right intervention at the right time. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to build trust while holding high standards. Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to: Oversee and support student discipline using restorative practices to foster accountability, repair harm, and build community. Reconcile student attendance, absences, and tardies, ensuring accurate data entry and follow-up. Collaborate with school counselors during regular meetings to support student academic, emotional, and social development. Participate in and support the Child Study Team (MS and HS) to develop and implement intervention strategies. Demonstrated expertise in restorative practices and progressive discipline approaches. Familiarity with EduClimber and the use of data to drive decision-making. Knowledge of assessment platforms and procedures, especially STAR and CBT state testing. Provide classroom management support to teachers and model best practices for student engagement and behavior management. Conduct teacher observations and evaluations, providing actionable feedback and professional growth support Serve as a key member of the Threat Assessment Team, contributing to school safety and crisis prevention efforts. Act as the DASA (Dignity for All Students Act) Coordinator for both middle and high school, ensuring compliance, training, and reporting.
