POSITION: Automotive Mechanic LOCATION: NSCSD Bus Garage, 175 June Road, North Salem, NY SALARY: Based upon skills, training and work experience. DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the Head Bus Mechanic, repairs gasoline or diesel internal combustion engines. Diagnose and repair tospecifications air brake and hydraulic systems. Inspect, maintain, and repair fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems. Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical system, and accessories. Operate drill press, lathe, welding, and burning equipmentand other associated tools, materials and equipment necessary in the repairs and maintenance of buses and other motorized vehicles. Repair and assist in repairs of snow plows, road rollers,and various mowers, snow removal from buses and bus grounds. Non-competitive Civil Service position – review of credentials. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work cooperatively with others and work independently with minimal supervision. Establish, maintain and foster positive, harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
