Received formal instruction in: Athletic Injury/Prevention/EvaluationFirst Aid/Emergency CareAthletic Training Administration Human Anatomy/PhysiologyExercise PhysiologyNutritionPersonal and Community Health Instructional Methods In addition to certification, the athletic trainer must meet the NYS licensing and regulation requirements in accordance with article 162 of the NYS Education Law. The term of this agreement shall be on or around the middle of August through the middle of June. This includes weekends, evenings, afternoons, and is subject to the athletic schedule. Athletic Trainer Responsibilities Provides First Aid and CPR and coordinated emergency transportation as required. Coordinates CPR, First Aid, AED training for coaches. Prepares AED’s and First Aid Kits to be supplied to all coaches. Prepares annual budget for the athletic first aid supplies.Treatment and supervision for all minor athletic injuries and conditions. Administer the Concussion Protocol Policy as necessary regarding head injuries as it pertains to Return to Athletic Participation. Assist in the prevention and care of athletes as it relates to the Dominic Murray Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act as of July 1, 2022. Directly responsible to the District Medical Officer and the Athletic Director in conjunction with the school district medical team and sports program. Refer athletic injuries to parents and confirming with private physicians as indicated or requested. Carries out appropriate instructions for treatment and rehabilitation for athletic injuries as directed by the physician. Follows up with parents/families on all injuries that are referred to physicians within 24 hours. Reviews in conjunction with the school district Medical Officer, any physician notes that allows athletes to return to practice. Conducts daily routines such as taping, injury evaluation, rehabilitation, counseling, exercise programs, and on field First Aid when needed. Determines if an athlete is capable of continued participation in a contest and or practice if the athlete is injured. Organization, inventory, and requisition of all training room supplies and cleanliness of the facility. Maintain complete and comprehensive recording system of all athletic injuries, major, or minor. Reports and files injury reports to the Athletic Director within 24 hours. Must be present at all home contests and provide oversight to daily practices. Attend major tournaments, away games, and sectional contests that are requested by the athletic director. The athletic trainer will provide one workshop per season to the student athletes, coaches, staff, and parents of the school district to provide healthy lifestyles, prevent injuries, and related topics to a mutually agreeable date/time. The athletic trainer is responsible for attending preseason coach’s meetings, and providing basic instruction to the athletic staff members for the prevention and care of injuries.Provide prevention and care of athletic injuries including therapeutic rehabilitation to allow the least loss of competitive time, while keeping the mental and physical welfare of the athlete a top priority. Attends Professional Development seminars/presentations annually.
