City School District of New Rochelle Embracing Diversity: Driving Success Job Description The City School District of New Rochelle seeks a highly organized and student-centered Summer School Coordinator to lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the High School Summer School Program. Under the supervision of the High School Principal, the Summer School Coordinator serves as the instructional and operational leader of the summer program. The Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations; supervising summer school faculty and staff; supporting student achievement and credit recovery efforts; managing program logistics; and enduring that the program aligns with district goals, policies, and strategic priorities. The Coordinator promotes a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment while supporting students, families, and staff throughout the duration of the summer program. Supervisory Relationship The Summer School Coordinator supervises summer school teachers, support staff, and other personnel assigned to the program. Essential Functions Provides leadership in the planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of the High School Summer School Program Coordinates student enrollment, scheduling, staffing, and daily program operations to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services. Supervises and supports summer school faculty and staff, providing guidance, direction, and resources necessary for successful program implementation. Promotes high-quality instruction and student engagement by supporting instructional practices aligned with district expectations and student learning needs. Monitors student attendance, progress, achievement data to identify areas of success and opportunities for improvement. Collaborates with school and district administrators to ensure program goals align with the district Strategic Roadmap and school improvement initiatives. Serves as the primary liaison among students, families, staff, and administrators regarding program expectations, procedures, and student progress. Facilitates communication with parents and guardians and connects families with appropriate school and community resources. Oversees staff scheduling, attendance reporting, and payroll processes in accordance with district procedures. Maintains accurate program records and prepares reports related to enrollment, attendance, staffing, and student outcomes. Ensure compliance with district policies, New York State regulations, and established summer school procedures. Responds effectively to issues that arise during program operation and works collaboratively to resolve concerns in a timely manner. Participates in meetings with school district leadership and contributes to continuous program improvement efforts. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practices and strategies to support student learning and credit recovery. Ability to analyze and utilize student and program data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners. Ability to work collaboratively within diverse educational settings and support the needs of a diverse student population. Knowledge of secondary school operations, scheduling, and student support systems. Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications Master’s Degree in Education from an accredited college or university. New York State School Building Leader (SBL) certification Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience. Prior administrative, supervisory, or leadership experience preferred. Demonstrated leadership qualities and interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with students, staff, families, and administrators. Demonstrated professionalism, confidentiality, and commitment to district policies and expectations.
