City School District of New Rochelle Embracing Diversity: Driving Success The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking an Elementary School Principal starting July 1, 2026. Reports to: Superintendent of Schools or Superintendent’s Designee Role: To provide the leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to develop and improve the total educational program; to promote the educational development of each student to obtain his/her fullest potential; to make the school environment an attractive, safe, and productive facility in which to work and learn. Performance Responsibilities: 1. Assure compliance with State and Federal Laws pertaining to education, Commissioner's Regulations, Board of Education policies, regulations of the Superintendent, and requirements of negotiated contracts with district employees. 2. Research the educational needs of students served by the school and develop plans for meeting these needs. 3. Exert leadership in the adaptation of the educational program to meet the specific needs of the students. 4. Direct the activities of school certificated and non - certificated staff members in the performance of their duties. 5. Supervise and evaluate the instructional staff in the development and implementation of curriculum and student activities; make recommendations for personnel retention, granting of tenure, transfer, or termination. 6. Enforce the School District's Rules and Regulations for the Maintenance of Public Order on School District Property. 7. Develop and maintain an internal communications system that provides personnel with necessary accurate information. 8. Report to appropriate central office administrators regarding the needs of the school with respect to personnel, curriculum, equipment, and supplies. 9. Develop a program of public relations in order to further the community's understanding and support of the programs and services of the school district. 10. Answer questions and investigate complaints from the public pertaining to the school. 11. Administer the school's budgeted allocations. 12. Prepare such reports as may be required and requested. 13. Perform such other responsibilities as may be requested by the Superintendent of Schools and required by law.
