City School District of New RochelleEmbracing Diversity: Driving Success The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a leave replacement for an elementary music teacher. Reports to: Principal; Director of Performing & Visual ArtsPerformance Responsibilities:· Plans, develops and carries out a quality program of sequential instruction aligned to National and State Core Arts Standards in music for elementary students, K-5.· Provide opportunities for students to achieve in music through singing, playing melodic and rhythmic classroom instruments, and movement activities.· Promotes the acquisition of music literacy and musicianship skills through traditional, Kodaly-Orff, Gordon, or Dalcroze methodologies.· Prepares music assemblies for K-5 by grade level.· Presents periodic evening concerts to the school and community featuring student performers.· Maintains appropriate records of student achievement for all students assigned to classes in the program (including marking period grades).· Collaborates with departmental colleagues districtwide and within the assigned school to maintain and enhance the quality of music instruction.· Communicates with parents/guardians of students regularly.· Collaborates with colleagues within and outside the arts department in the district on school or district initiatives.· Perform other duties as directed by the Principal and Director of Performing and Visual Arts. Qualifications:· Holds New York State Certification in Music· Demonstrated excellence in teaching· Demonstrated knowledge of musical repertoire appropriate for elementary school students· Superior organizational skills· Understands successful techniques for motivating elementary school students· Demonstrated professional performance proficiency on a musical instrument or voice· Demonstrated performance proficiency on piano and voice.NYS Certification is required at time of applicationEOE: Minority and Bilingual candidates are encouraged to applyPlease do not send resumes to Human Resources: They will not be accepted
