City School District of New RochelleEmbracing Diversity: Driving SuccessThe City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a Music Teacher for a probationary High School Choral/Vocal Music & Music Technology Teaching Position.Reports to: Director of Performing & Visual Arts, Building Principal Performance Responsibilities:Plans, develops, and carries out a quality program of sequential instruction aligned to National and State Core Arts Standards in music for high school students, grades 9-12Supports and builds curriculum to support the HS PAVE Vocal Music ProgramPromotes the acquisition of music literacy and musicianship skillsPresents periodic evening concerts to the school and community featuring student performersProvide opportunities for students to achieve in music through music technologyMaintains appropriate records of student achievement for all students assigned to classes in the program;Collaborates with department colleagues districtwide and within the assigned school(s) to maintain and enhance the quality of music instruction.Communicates with parents/guardians of students regularly.Facilitates the students’ and the director’s participation in county, state, and national programs through WCSMA, NYSSMA, NAfME, and WCALA as appropriateWorks with building and district administration to develop appropriate achievement goals for students in each grade level or groupCollaborates with colleagues within and outside the arts department in the district on school or district initiatives.Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Performing & Visual Arts or building administration.Qualifications:Holds New York State Certification in MusicDemonstrated excellence in teachingDemonstrated knowledge of musical repertoire appropriate for high school choral/vocal music studentsSuperior organizational skillsUnderstands successful techniques for motivating high school studentsDemonstrated professional vocal performance proficiency and strong piano skillsDemonstrated proficiency in music technology educationDemonstrated skills in word processing, spreadsheet, databases, and music software programs as needed.NYS Certification is required at time of applicationEOE: Minority candidates are encouraged to applyPlease do not send resumes to Human Resources: They will not be accepted
