The New Paltz Central School District seeks an Acting Coordinator of Special Education (grades 6-12). The position is available immediately and extends to June 30, 2023. Primary Duties/Responsibilities:Serves as Chair of Committee on Special Education and prepares all necessary and appropriate paper work for communication to the Board of Education, parents, CSE members, teachers, and administrators.Processes all referrals pertaining to students with suspected disabling conditions.Works with appropriate staff to ensure program implementation for all students with Individual Education Plans (IEP's).Assists in the development of analyses concerning various aspects of special education services, with particular concern for "feedback" to the Director of Pupil Personnel Services and the Superintendent, of any information from any area of special education program functioning that might have implications for planning with regard to other aspects of school functioning.Performs other tasks, duties, and responsibilities related to student services as requested by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services or the Superintendent.Qualifications:A Masters' Degree or equivalent with major in Educational AdministrationValid New York State SAS/SBL or SDA/SDL CertificationAt least 3-5 years of experience in public school education as a teacher, counselor, psychologist, or CSE Chair.High level of communication skills, both oral and writtenSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.Reports To:Director of Pupil Personnel Services and Special EducationApplicants must upload the following documents to OLAS:Cover letter – to the attention of SuperintendentResume and letters of reference**Please note, all applicants must apply online through OLAS on or before the application deadline date.Application deadline: 12/09/2022 (open until filled)Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
