Position Summary:The Middle School/High School Principal works collaboratively with the Superintendent in overseeing the delivery of appropriate educational services as well as insure that all policies and procedures are strictly adhered to with updates as needed. Primary Duties & Essential Functions:Knowledge of state and federal laws, guidelines and regulations regarding education of special needs and non-special needs children in NYS including Part 100 and Part 200 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education and the individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)Knowledge of the provision of educational services to disabled and non-disabled childrenKnowledge of federal and state grants applicable to education programs in similar settingsWorking knowledge of the principles of curriculum development, implementation and evaluation including Next Gen StandardsWorking knowledge of teacher competencies, training, supervision and appraisalUnderstand and support the Agency Mission/VisionActively engaged with current student data and issuesAccurate, timely and professional reporting to the SuperintendentAssist in the administration of federal and state grants applicable to the delivery of educational services to individuals servedAssist in the oversight of the delivery of appropriate educational programs to individuals servedProvide positive leadership to all staff and volunteersParticipate in the screening, interviewing, hiring, training, support and evaluation of teachersProvide and maintain appropriate and professional collaboration/communication with other agency staff, volunteers, families, referral sources and community membersAssume other responsibilities that belong to all education staff members such as participation in the behavior management program, insuring the health, safety and supervision of students and enforcing the Student Handbook, Code of Conduct and remote learning modelAs this list of duties and responsibilities are not intended to be all-inclusive, other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as business needs require Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:Master’s Degree in Education with NYS Certification as a school administratorMinimum of 2-years successful experience as a classroom teacher preferred2-years’ experience in a school leadership positionDemonstrated success working with improvement initiativesExperience in a small, rural or high poverty school district Abilities and Working Conditions:Demonstrated leadership ability and effective communication skillsDemonstrated ability to problem solve, mediate, negotiate and manage conflictAbility to multitask and manage time effectivelyPromotes and supports competence and growth
