Probationary Social Studies Teacher – North Shore High School (2026–2027) About Us North Shore Schools is committed to cultivating a nurturing and dynamic educational environment where students flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable educator to join our high school Social Studies department. Probationary Social Studies Teacher (Full-Time, 1.0 FTE) Start Date: September 2026 (2026–2027 school year) Location: North Shore High School Assignment(s) to be determined based on department needs and candidate strengths (e.g., Global History, U.S. History, Government/Economics, electives). Qualifications Valid New York State 7–12 Social Studies certification is required. Strong content knowledge aligned to the NYS Social Studies Framework and Regents, AP and IB expectations and courses. Experience and willingness to co-teach in inclusive classrooms and support Special Education students and English Language Learners. Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with New York State Learning Standards. Develop students’ historical thinking skills through inquiry, discussion, source analysis, and writing. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including ENL and students with IEPs/504s. Collaborate with colleagues (including special education co-teachers) to support inclusion classes. Assess student progress using formative and summative measures; provide timely, constructive feedback. Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, parents/guardians, and administrators. Contribute to a positive school culture through collaboration and professional learning.
