The Norwich City School District seeks a secondary English teacher for probationary tenure-track position, beginning September 2026. The successful candidate will possess a strong ability to: Connect, engage and empower students through a robust and dynamic English Language Arts curriculum Provide interventions in English Language Arts to middle and senior high school students Implement positive behavioral management strategies to support students in meeting classroom expectations Engage in various instructional models including co-teaching, parallel teaching and working with small groups Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with colleagues, students and the broader community Possess a proven ability to interact effectively with students and their families who represent cultures that are diverse in terms of race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and other characteristics in order to build an effective and collaborative school community Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws Possess New York State Certification in English 7-12 The Norwich City School District is looking to grow professionals who are interested in: A Collaborative Professional Learning Community Responsive and personalized professional development specifically designed for new teachers An innovative Multi-Tiered System of Support process focusing on an effective Tier 1 curriculum, social emotional well-being, family/community engagement and innovation A supportive observational structure and culture The Norwich City School District is located at the center of Chenango County with a student population of 1,800 and a total staff of 400.
