The successful candidate will possess a strong ability to: Collaborate with team colleagues as well as High School faculty to provide a comprehensive college, career and social emotional counseling program that is reflective of varying student needsEngage in professional learning, including the Professional Learning Community process, as well as with statewide colleagues to innovate within the school counseling programPrioritize student counseling and the development of relationships with studentsIdentify, assess, and implement preventative servicesBelieve that caregivers serve in partnership with the school district in counseling & college and career preparation, and ensure that belief translates to high caregiver engagement with scheduling, college and career readiness processAssist instructional staff in developing a framework for building-wide social emotional programming implementationServe as part of administration team of universal social emotional screener and respond to student need accordinglyCollaborate with team and continue to implement MTSS framework at a high levelRecognize trauma’s impact on the brain and how to support and be responsive to all learnersOrganize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.Possess a valid NYS certification in School CounselingThe Norwich City School District is looking to grow professionals who are interested in:A Collaborative Professional Learning CommunityResponsive and personalized professional development specifically designed for new teachersAn innovative Multi-Tiered System of Support process focusing on an effective Tier 1 curriculum, social emotional well-being, family/community engagement and innovationA supportive observational structure and cultureThe Norwich City School District is located at the center of Chenango County with a student population of 1,800 and a total staff of 400.
