The E.R. Hughes Elementary School is seeking an experienced and passionate Principal who possesses and maintains qualities of leadership, advocacy and professionalism to set the standard and further the goals of the New Hartford Central School District.The E.R. Hughes Elementary School, located in the Mohawk Valley, is a high performing school that consistently meets and exceeds state and national accountability standards. Student performance in ELA and mathematics is consistently rated high or very high using a formula developed by the New York State School Board’s Advisory Solutions. The school consists of 485 students in kindergarten through grade 6 and 42 professional staff. We are listed on “Best New York Elementary Schools” from U.S. News. All three of our elementary schools in the district rank within the top 1,100 schools out of over 102,000. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Maintaining a positive and productive school climate that focuses on student learning;• Communicating frequently and effectively with students, teachers and parents;• Working on district committees to develop curriculum;• Supervising the implementation of the instructional program;• Evaluating the effectiveness of the instructional program;• Supervising and developing the instructional and school support staff;• Publicizing school activities and events; and• Managing the school building budget and facilities.Qualifications:• M.S. or M.A. in Education• New York State Teaching Certification• Possess certification as a school building leader or administrator• Tenured administrative experience
