The ISP Teacher Assistant works in collaboration with the Dean of Students to staff the "I Solve Problems" (ISP) room. The primary objective of this role is to facilitate the district’s Responsibility Centered Discipline (RCD) framework, shifting the focus from traditional consequences to fostering personal responsibility, emotional regulation, and positive behavioral skill-building. Key Responsibilities Implementing Responsibility-Centered Discipline (RCD): Facilitate student self-reflection and accountability using RCD principles; shift the focus from traditional consequences to restorative, skill-building interactions. Student Regulation and Support: Provide a calm environment for de-escalation; use "Targeted Conversations" to help students identify triggers and practice self-regulation techniques. Creating Plans for Success: Collaborate on "Informal Behavior Plans" to identify triggers and replacement skills; help students set goals for classroom reintegration and track progress. Collaborative Duties: Partner with the Dean of Students and faculty to identify behavioral patterns, recommend solutions, and maintain accurate records of student support. Coverage : TA may need to substitute in classes PreK-5 as needed. Participation : Participate in school-wide events. Qualifications Must hold appropriate Level I, II, or III Teaching Assistant certification. Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage in restorative and reflective dialogue with students. Commitment to the district’s philosophy of teaching responsibility and autonomy.
