The Network Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of NCSD’s network infrastructure. This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, maintenance, and support of the district's network systems. The Network Specialist collaborates with the IT team to provide reliable and secure network services that support the educational and administrative needs of the district.Key Responsibilities:Network Infrastructure Management:Design, implement, and maintain the school district's network infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks.Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and ensure optimal network reliability and speed.Manage network security, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and access Controls.Hardware and Software Support:Install, configure, and maintain networking hardware and software, such as routers, switches,access points, and network servers.Ensure software and firmware are up to date, applying patches and updates as necessary.User Support:Provide technical support to end-users and assist with network-related issues, ensuring timelyresolution.Educate staff and faculty on network best practices, ED Law 2d and security/cybersecuritymeasures.Network Documentation:Maintain comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, IP addressassignments and equipment inventory.Create and update network policies, procedures, and guidelines.Network Security:Implement and enforce security measures, including firewall rules, antivirus software, and dataencryption.Monitor network traffic for anomalies and respond to security incidents asnecessary.Collaboration:Work collaboratively with the IT team to integrate network services with other systems, such asemail servers, file storage, and databases.Collaborate with external vendors or service providers when necessary.Disaster Recovery:Co-develop and maintain network disaster recovery plans to ensure data and network servicescan be restored in case of a network failure or disaster.Research and Recommendations:Stay current with technology trends and recommend network improvements andupgrades to enhance performance, scalability, and security.QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, orrelated field is preferred. Relevant industry certifications, such as Cisco CCNA or CompTIA Network+, are advantageous.Proven experience in network administration, preferably in an educational or public sector environment.Strong knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.Familiarity with network management tools and software.Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Apply on OLAS
