Family & Consumer Sciences Part-Time Teacher Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Provide instruction in Family and Consumer Sciences courses at Northport Middle School. Develop and deliver standards-based lessons in areas such as nutrition and wellness, food preparation, consumer literacy, personal finance, career exploration, and life skills. Create a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and connected. Utilize instructional strategies that support diverse learning needs and encourage student engagement. Assess student learning and use data to inform instructional decisions. Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities. Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to analyze student learning, share instructional practices, and support continuous improvement. Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff. Support district initiatives related to student wellness, belonging, and the Profile of a Graduate competencies. Essential skills and/or experience: Strong knowledge of Family and Consumer Sciences content and instructional practices. Ability to build positive relationships with middle school students. Experience creating inclusive learning environments that foster a sense of belonging. Effective classroom management and organizational skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Commitment to continuous professional growth and collaborative learning through PLCs. Ability to integrate real-world applications and student-centered learning experiences. Preferred skills and/or experiences: Previous middle school teaching experience. Experience implementing project-based learning and interdisciplinary instruction. Familiarity with competency-based learning and Profile of a Graduate frameworks. Experience using instructional technology to enhance learning. Knowledge of culturally responsive and inclusive teaching practices.
