Special Education/Special Class or AIS: Elementary The District is seeking 4 dedicated, compassionate Teaching Assistants to support students with disabilities in a 12:1:2 or 8:1:3 special class setting at the elementary level. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the special education teacher to support students with complex learning needs. We are also seeking 1 Teaching Assistant to support AIS services in an elementary setting. Job Locations: Pulaski Road Elementary School Ocean Avenue Elementary School Fifth Avenue Elementary School Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Provide individualized and small group support for students with special needs in a 12:1:2 or 8:1:3 special class setting. Assist the special education teacher in implementing specially designed instructional activities Support the delivery of specially designed instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals Assist in managing classroom behavior using established behavior management strategies and supports Monitor student engagement, participation, and progress throughout the school day Assist with data collection related to student performance and behavior Support students with transitions, routines, and daily living skills, including those with toileting needs as needed Collaborate with the special education teacher, related service providers and special area teachers to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment. Essential Skills and/or Experience: Experience working with students with disabilities preferred Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills Ability to implement behavior management strategies and follow teacher's direction Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and commitment to supporting all learners. Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required Requirements: NYS Teaching Assistant certification (or eligibility) required NYS Teacher Certification in B-2, 1-6, literacy or students with disabilities helpful Competitive health insurance benefits package available for successful candidates.
