POSITION SUMMARYThe Data Control Supervisor serves as the primary liaison between user departments and data processing personnel and is responsible for the accuracy, control, and flow of data processing input and output. The position addresses user requests for assistance, documents and tracks reported problems, facilitates resolution, and maintains data processing standards and procedures. Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed through reports, observation, and operational effectiveness.TYPICAL DUTIESServes as the central contact for user-reported data processing issuesMaintains and controls data processing input, output, and workflowResolves reported problems or refers them to appropriate personnelDocuments issues, resolutions, and system changesTracks outstanding issues and ensures timely follow-upReviews flow charts and assembles program packagesAdvises users on procedures during problem resolutionPrepares reports and maintains reference manualsAttends meetings related to system or procedural changesREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledge of data processing control procedures and record-keepingKnowledge of general office practice.Working knowledge of data processing terminology and equipmentAbility to prepare technical documentationAbility to follow oral and written instructionsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work effectively with users and technical staffMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSOPEN COMPETITIVECandidates must meet one of the following:(a) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or(b) Associate’s degree and two (2) years of experience in a data processing environment involving end-user problem resolution and/or workflow control; or(c) High school diploma or equivalency and four (4) years of comparable data processing experience; or(d) An equivalent combination of education and experience.NOTEThis is a provisional appointment.
