The North Colonie Central School District seeks a dedicated, student-focused School Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience at the secondary level providing academic, career, and personal counseling to students and a strong understanding of the NYS graduation requirements, diploma types, and pathways to ensure all students achieve their post-secondary goals. Key Responsibilities: - Guide students and families through the NYS graduation requirements, including credit accumulation, Regents exams, and other state-mandated assessments. Educate students on the different diploma options and pathways to graduation -Assist students in identifying and completing alternative pathways to graduation-Regularly review student transcripts to ensure they are on track for graduation and intervene when necessary. -Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop academic intervention plans. -Provide college and career counseling, including guidance on post-secondary options, financial aid, and career planning. -Support students navigating Career and Technical Education programs and vocational training opportunities. -Help students explore early college programs, dual enrollment, and Advanced Placement (AP) options. -Provide individual and group counseling to address students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs. -Support students in overcoming academic and personal challenges that may impact their success. -Work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and external agencies to provide resources and referrals when necessary.
