Position Overview:North Colonie seeking a dedicated and empathetic Middle School Counselor to join our team in a short-term capacity. This position involves providing comprehensive counseling services to students in grades 7-8 during the absence of our regular counselor. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting adolescent development, fostering a positive school environment, and addressing the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of middle school students. Key Responsibilities:Conduct brief, solution-focused counseling sessions to support students in managing personal, academic, and social challenges.Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to create personalized student success plans.Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with school policies and legal requirements. Respond to crises and provide immediate support to students in distress, following established protocols.Advise students on course selection, academic goals, and college/career readiness.Implement strategies for promoting a positive school climate and preventing bullying and harassment.Participate in team meetings, professional development activities, and school events as required.Uphold ethical standards and guidelines established by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). Note: This job description is subject to change based on the specific needs of the school and its students.Salary: $200/day Duration:This is a temporary leave replacement position, would be for the remainder for this school year (through June 30th) 10 summer days, and the month of September, starting as soon as possible.
