The Newburgh Enlarged City School District has a vacancy for an Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. This cabinet level position is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources, from recruitment to hiring, employee on -boarding to tenure or permanent employment, contract analysis to negotiations, employee discipline to hearings and investigations, as well as other duties assigned by the Superintendent. Candidates must possess NYS Certification as a School District leader, a minimum of 5 years experience on the District/ or building level and relevant experience in Human Resources Administration. Salary is highly competitive with excellent fringe benefits. Anticipated start date is August 15, 2026. QUALIFICATIONS: • New York State certification as a School District Administrator or School District Leader (SDA/SDL) or eligibility preferred. • Extensive knowledge of NYS Education Law, Civil Service Law, and labor relations. • Demonstrated experience in human resources leadership, preferably in a public school district. • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. • Experience in collective bargaining and contract administration required. JOB GOAL: To serve as the Chief Human Resource Officer and representative of the Superintendent’s cabinet for matters in which activities and interests of personnel are involved; has primary responsibility for the planning, directing, and supervision of all functions pertaining to the human resources division. Overview The Newburgh Enlarged City School district is located at "The Crossroads of the Northeast," an area on the west bank of the Hudson River 60 miles north of New York City and 80 miles south of Albany. Our district central office and the Board of Education are located at 124 Grand Street, Newburgh, NY 12550. The school district serves students from four neighboring municipalities: the City of Newburgh, the Town of Newburgh, New Windsor, and a small portion of Cornwall. Six elementary schools (including a Pre-K center in one building), one K-8 school, one middle school, and the high school are in the City of Newburgh. The remaining schools are spread throughout the other municipalities.
