The Newburgh Enlarged City School District has an anticipated vacancy for a Community Engagement Coordinator.** Community Engagement Coordinator position is Provisional and Contingent upon results of the Civil Service Exam when issued.GOAL/PURPOSE: Works closely with the Director of the Library to strategize and plan community outreach efforts and protocols. Is responsible for planning, promoting supervising, measuring and evaluating community engagement services and programs.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Experience working with diverse communities and a strong interest in developing innovative approaches to introducing the community to library programs, collections, resources and services. Awareness of community organizations and resources, programs, and services available to support literacy, education, economic development and arts and culture. In-depth awareness of methods and implementation for surveying user needs and interests. Ability to build and sustain trusting relationships with the community. A strong commitment to the public library as a relevant and important resource for all citizens, and critical to the infrastructure and prosperous growth of the community. Ability to work evening and weekends to support community engagement initiatives. Bilingual preferred.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO APPLY FOR EXAM: A. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or closely related field and two years’ experience in marketing, public relations or community outreach. OR; B. Our district central office and the Board of Education are located at 124 Grand Street, Newburgh, NY 12550. The school district serves students from four neighboring municipalities: the City of Newburgh, the Town of Newburgh, New Windsor, and a small portion of Cornwall. Six elementary schools (including a Pre-K center in one building), one K-8 school, one middle school, and the high school are in the City of Newburgh. The remaining schools are spread throughout the other municipalities.
