The Newburgh Enlarged City School District has an anticipated vacancy for a Chief Custodian for the District.*Chief Custodian position is Provisional and Contingent upon results of the Civil Service Exam when issued.GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:Has responsible charge of the cleaning and minor maintenance activities in all school buildings; Does related work as required.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Comprehensive knowledge of modern building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment; Ability to plan and supervise the work of a substantial number of custodial personnel; Ability to organize and conduct training courses; Ability to understand written instructions and technical material; Ability to maintain records and prepare reports; Initiative, resourcefulness, dependability, physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER;Completion of the ninth grade and six years’ experience in building cleaning and maintenance Four years’ experience in any of the standard mechanical or construction trades and two years of building cleaning and maintenance work, or;Any equivalent combination of training and experience as described above.FOR PROMOTION:5 yrs as a Senior Custodian in the Newburgh School District, or;3 yrs as a Head Custodian in the Newburgh School District. Six elementary schools (including a Pre-K center in one building), one K-8 school, one middle school, and the high school are in the City of Newburgh.
