The Newburgh Enlarged City School District has an anticipated vacancy for an Instructional Coach at NFA West Campus High School.The Instructional Coach will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student achievement and the teaching and learning expectations stemming from the New York State Common Core Learning Standards and the District’s APPR Plan. The Coach will tailor assistance based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers. Through a variety of individual and group professional development avenues, the Instructional Coach will assist teachers in understanding and implementing strategies that promote active student engagement, differentiation, and outcomes-based learning. REPORTS TO: Building Principal QUALIFICATIONS:Any Secondary content area, English or Math desirable.Minimum of five years of successful Gr. 7-12 teaching experience preferredExtensive knowledge of a wide variety of instructional strategies and student grouping/classroom organizations to promote active student engagement and critical thinkingFamiliarity with the content and research-based framework of the NYS Common Core Learning StandardsFamiliarity with the NYS Teaching Standards and the NYS Professional Development StandardsExperience with instructional programs and strategies for identifiable student populations such as English Language Learners and Students with DisabilitiesFamiliarity with the methods and materials that promote technology-enhanced instructionStrong interpersonal skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsExperience in designing and providing professional development through avenues such as in-service training, workshops, job embedded facilitation, and small group workAbility to work collaborativelyAbility to maintain teacher confidentiality while communicating professional development needs of building staffExperience in the analysis and use of data and student work to inform instructional decisionsDemonstrate knowledge of a variety of assessment tools and strategiesDemonstrate teacher leadership qualities when working with building administrators and on building initiatives Our district serves a very large population of diverse students. Six elementary schools (including a Pre-K center in one building), one K-8 school, one middle school, and the high school are in the City of Newburgh.
