ANTICIPATED VACANCY 2026-2027 Coordinator of Pupil Personnel Services The North Babylon School District is seeking a dynamic Coordinator of Pupil Personnel Services to join a collaborative, student-centered, and forward-thinking PPS leadership team. The Coordinator of Pupil Personnel Services provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of district pupil personnel programs and services, including special education processes, student support services, and compliance with federal and New York State regulations. The Coordinator works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, related service providers, and families to ensure students receive appropriate support to access and benefit from their educational programs. The ideal candidates will demonstrate: Strong knowledge of special education law and procedures, including IDEA, New York State Part 200 regulations, CPSE/CSE processes, and compliance requirements related to evaluations, IEP development, and implementation. Effective leadership and facilitation skills in chairing CPSE and CSE meetings, guiding collaborative decision-making among multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining a student-centered focus. Ability to build strong relationships with families, staff, and community agencies, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and clear communication when navigating complex student support needs. Experience supporting students with diverse needs, including students in Life Skills programs, students transitioning to post-secondary opportunities, and students experiencing homelessness under McKinney-Vento. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, timelines, and compliance requirements while maintaining attention to detail. Instructional leadership in special education programming, including supporting teachers with evidence-based practices, progress monitoring, and aligning instruction with IEP goals. Capacity to coordinate and support multidisciplinary staff, including paraprofessionals, related service providers, and nursing personnel, to ensure consistent and effective implementation of student supports. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student advocacy, ensuring that all students have access to appropriate educational opportunities and services. NYS (SAS, SDA, SBL, SDL) Certification Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison Serve as the district McKinney-Vento Liaison, ensuring compliance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. Identify and support students experiencing homelessness, ensuring immediate enrollment and access to educational services. Coordinate transportation, academic supports, and access to district programs for eligible students. Ensure the provision of guidance and training to staff and families regarding rights and services under McKinney-Vento. Transition Coordination Serve as the district Transition Liaison, overseeing transition planning for eligible students, ensuring age-appropriate assessments, measurable transition goals, and coordinated service delivery. Partner with families, vocational agencies, and community organizations to support postsecondary readiness. Support life-skills curriculum implementation and career-readiness programming. Nursing Services Coordination Support Provide administrative coordination and program support for district nursing and student health services. Collaborate with school nurses to ensure appropriate health plans, medication administration procedures, and medical accommodations align with student IEPs, 504 Plans or Health plans. Support communication between health services staff, families, and school personnel regarding student medical needs. Assist in the development and implementation of health-related protocols impacting student access to school programs. Paraprofessional Coordination Serve as the district point of contact for paraprofessionals assigned to support students with disabilities. Coordinate paraprofessional assignments based on student needs and IEP recommendations. Provide guidance to administrators and staff regarding effective utilization of paraprofessional support. Assist with training and professional development to support paraprofessional effectiveness in instructional and behavioral support roles. Instructional Leadership Support teachers in implementing evidence-based instructional strategies, functional life skills curricula, and individualized supports aligned with student IEP goals. Monitor student progress and program effectiveness through data analysis and classroom observations. Collaborate with related service providers and building administrators to ensure program fidelity and alignment with district goals. Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent.
