DIRECTOR OF P-12 Science, Technology, and Family Consumer ScienceThe North Babylon School District seeks a highly motivated individual with the ability to lead and be responsible for the overall supervision and effectiveness of the Science, Technology, and Family Consumer SciencePrograms. The Director of Science, Technology, and Family Consumer Science reports directly to the Deputy Superintendent. RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop, implement and oversee the school district's curriculum and instruction for the Science, Technology and FACS programs in accordance with District goals and objectives, as well as federal and state requirements and regulations.A strong understanding of the NYS new Science assessments, development and implementation. The ability to interpret, evaluate and analyze student assessment and program evaluation results for the purpose of improving instruction and student achievement.A knowledge and understanding of NYS P-12 Science Learning Standards, NYS Mathematics, Science and Technology (MST) Learning Standards, NYS Learning Standards for Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) and Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS), graduation pathways, career and technical education programs andAdvanced Placement curriculum including skills in the areas of staff development and program evaluation.Work collaboratively with administrators, principles and classroom teachers to develop programs and incorporate practices and technology that help students of differing abilities and interests to achieve high standards.Ensure that curriculum and instruction incorporates the experiences, culture, history and perspectives of people from various cultures and backgrounds.Plan, compile and manage the budget for the Science, Technology and FACS Departments.Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.Ability to prepare oral or written communications, such as presentations, reports, memoranda, letters, evaluation, observation, curriculum documents, etc.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents, and community. Collaborative decision-making style, with a proven track record of working effectively with diverse individuals to drive decision-making and results.Develop, implement and monitor the math, science, and technology curriculum and programs in conjunction with State guidelines and District prioritiesDevelopment of annual departmental objectivesCollect and examine data to determine progress success in achieving its goalsAnalyze student achievement data and prepare reportsScheduling, testing and student after-school activitiesPurchasing, distribution, maintenance and storage of materials and equipmentConduct departmental meetings and attend periodic after-school meetingsCoordinate the department’s activities with those of other departments Promote conversations about teaching and learningWork with and be available for parents and students as neededOther duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his designee Appropriate Certification required. Administrative experience preferred.
