The Nassau BOCES Department of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs is seeking a Part-time Construction Electrical teacher (residential and commercial electrical trades) to instruct high school students in a technical center setting. This includes chime systems and lighting fixtures, conductors, cables and boxes, electric heat and wiring lighting outlets, receptables, switches and appliances. This teaching position also involves instructing students in installing light duty electrical services, conduits, wire, recessed and fluorescent lighting, large service panels as well as motor control circuits, motors, electrical controls, transformers, switches and outlets. Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to: Preparation of lesson plans, course outlines and trade analyses.Establishment and maintenance of shop safety programs.Maintenance of tools and equipment, including shop layout planning.Appropriate management of a classroom environment and meeting each student’s needs.Evaluation of each student’s progress as a part of record keeping.Use of technology to enhance instruction.REQUIREMENTS: New York State Education Department Certification: Transitional A, Initial or Professional in Construction Electric 7-12.Two or more years of verified experience as an electrical tradesperson or teacher of Continuing/Technical Education in the electrical trade.Ability to network with professionals in the electrical trade.Experience with secondary students is preferred.Proficiency with technology in the classroom is preferred.
