Duties include, but are not limited to the following: assist in general supervision and oversight of all nurses; assist the coordinators with year-end evaluations; support and orientation of nurses; scheduling; participate in interviews and make recommendations on hiring; assist in assignment of nursing personnel and secure substitute help to maintain district-wide nursing coverage; assist in providing a program of training and workshops; substitute at a school in the absence of the assigned nurse; assist in the decision making process and resolving problems as they arise at the various schools; assign work to health office staff; act as a liaison between the health office and the school administration; analyze and distribute policies and protocols that are kept updated and in-line with current NYS acceptable nursing guidelines. Requirements:This is a provisional position requiring successful completion of the Nassau County Civil Service exam for Assistant Coordinator of Health Services and reachability on the resultant list. Selected candidate will be required to submit a civil service application.Valid NYS Registered Nurse license. Valid NYS Driver’s license. Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Five years satisfactory experience as an RN, including two years as a school nurse. Ability to work collaboratively with health care professionals in multiple locations. Calm demeanor in emergency situations.
