*** IN ADDITION TO APPLYING ON OLAS, ALL APPLICANTS MUST VISIT THE NASSAU BOCES Employment Opportunities PAGE TO COMPLETE THEIR APPLICATION ***The Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology at Nassau BOCES is seeking a Program Coordinator for School Library Services who supervises a Program Specialist II, clerical and other internal BOCES staff and consultants. The Program Coordinator will work with component school districts supporting school librarians, library staff and administrators assisting the various cooperative shared services the department offers. The School Library Services Program Coordinator will also act as the regional New York State School Library System Director which includes additional requirements, reports and regulations. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Supervise, monitor, train and support personnel assigned to the program. Support Nassau County school librarians, library staff and administrators with services that are purchased through Nassau BOCES. Plan, manage and deliver professional development for districts’ K-12 library media specialists and library staff on a variety of library related areas such as library management, online resources, library automation systems and curriculum and instruction. Organize special activities, workshops and conferences. Collaborate with colleagues regarding the delivery of programs and services. Supervise and evaluate clerical staff, program specialists, casual employees and consultants. Maintain the School Library System budgets, including New York State Library Aid and reporting. Participate in local and statewide professional organizations. Requirements:New York State Education Department Certification: School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA). New York State Education Department Certification: Professional/Permanent Library Media Specialist is required. At least three years of teaching experience as a public-school librarian within New York State. Knowledge of New York State School Library guidelines, Empire State Information Continuum and current school library practices. Excellent managerial, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
