The Program Coordinator supervises the natural, ecological, SEL, and historical programs at various Nassau BOCES sites. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Facilitating regional and in-district professional development sessions on science content that supports the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards.Serving as the program/activity liaison; collaborating with school district staff members to implement program initiatives which includes planning and developing programs for districts, public agencies, and universities.Writing, assessing and reviewing curriculum and other training materials.Participating in local and statewide professional organizations.Organizing special activities, workshops, and conferences.Maintaining program records and data, reports, scheduling.Developing and maintaining the Outdoor and Environmental Education budget.Making recommendations for the purchase of materials, supplies and equipment.Recruiting, mentoring and coaching new staff in all related departmental procedures.Supervising clerical staff and evaluating naturalists.Requirements:New York State Education Department: School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator Certification (SDA).New York State Education Department: General Science Teacher Certification preferred.Knowledge of staff development, instructional techniques and learning theory.Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, presentation and communication skills.Availability to travel throughout Nassau County. *** IN ADDITION TO APPLYING ON OLAS, ALL APPLICANTS MUST VISIT THE NASSAU BOCES Employment Opportunities PAGE TO COMPLETE THEIR APPLICATION ***
