In addition to applying on OLAS** ALL APPLICANTS MUST VISIT THE NASSAU BOCES Employment Opportunities PAGE TO COMPLETE THEIR APPLICATION ***Nassau BOCES Department of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs is seeking a full time New York State Licensed Cosmetologist teacher and/or Licensed Nail Technician teacher with a waxing certification for anticipated position at Joseph M. Barry Career & Technical Education Center. This candidate would teach occupational program content, processes, application, and workplace skills to high school students in a career center setting. Duties would include preparation of lesson plans and coarse outlines to prepare students to take a state board examination to include practical/hands on and a written test upon completion. This candidate will be expected to manage a classroom environment appropriately and be responsible for meeting each learner’s individual needs and evaluating their progress as part of record keeping duties. Technology will need to be used as part of the instruction to enhance the educational setting. Topics covered by the teacher include sanitation, infection control, safety in the salon, human anatomy, basics of advanced nails and waxing curriculum, salon business, and the skills required to obtain a New York State nail and waxing technician license.Requirements: The Candidate needs to have a strong background in Nail and Waxing techniques. One must have the ability to work effectively with students, staff, administration, and parents.
