The candidate should have outstanding assessment and listening skills as well as the ability to display empathy and sound decision-making with great organizational and motivational skills. The candidate would be responsible for assisting and advising students about academic and personal decisions, providing private counseling to students, assessing the ability and potential of students, and coordinating with administration and fellow professionals on student matters. To ensure success of all students, the guidance counselor will be accessible and authentic with excellent communication skills and a profound interest in helping students to attain their academic and career goals. Top candidates will display natural leadership qualities with remarkable problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.The candidate will be expected to:Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to advise and assist students with academic and vocational development.Evaluate students’ attributes and assist them in realizing their objectives.Developing and implementing counseling strategies with contemporary methods of mentoring.Identify behavioral problems and acting appropriately to remedy the situation.Paying attention to societal and cultural differences in all student matters.Assessing the development of students and highlighting their sense of accomplishment.Cooperating with parents, academic staff, and external partners.Assist with arranging and scheduling orientation programs and internships.Working in collaboration with in-district guidance counselors to advertise facilities and study programs to potential studentsRequirements:NYSED Certification – An Esthetics 7-12 Transitional A - Certificate is required by the start of the school year.4+ years of verified experience as a New York State licensed esthetician with professional relationships with local industry contacts.Experience with secondary student populations and technology in the classroom is preferred.Excellent planning, organization, written and verbal communication skillsComputer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, including TeamsTeam and detail orientedInterest in Career and Technical Education*** IN ADDITION TO APPLYING ON OLAS, ALL APPLICANTS MUST VISIT THE NASSAU BOCES Employment Opportunities PAGE TO COMPLETE THEIR APPLICATION ***
