Responsibilities & Essential Duties:Maintain a log of duties and activities regarding corrective action for noncompliance areasDevelop, prepare, and facilitate professional development as neededAssist with the development and review of initial referral packets, IEPs, BIPs, IEP progress reports, and other special education documentationMonitor related service delivery and home instructionSubmit monthly reports of progress monitoringInterface and coordinate with special education agency consultantsInforms building-based special education Specialists and administrators of the timelines forIndividual Education Plan (IEP) development, annual Case Reviews, Evaluations, Re-Evaluations, Move-In Conferences, Manifestations, Case Conferences, and Progress on Goals.Conducts regular IEP audits to ensure compliance with federal and state law, as well as District Special Education policies and procedures.Manages the status of the Special Education Database, including updating the Special Education Placement Screen daily.Facilitates the District’s special education Child Count.Monitors Federal Special Education Indicators.Sends Weekly Compliance Updates to building-based special education Specialists to flag compliance hot spots (i.e., evaluation timelines, move-in conferences, etc.)Monitor and report to building-based special education Specialist the school suspension, expulsion, seclusion and restraint, and academic data for students with special needs in assigned buildings.Manages IIEP system and permissions for their school assignments.Maintains and completes reports as requested by the Department of Special EducationInputs special transportation requests (i.e., change of school)Qualifications:Appropriate NYS SDA, or SDL Administrative certification.Appropriate NYS Teacher certification in Special education.SWD 1-6, orSWD 7-12/Content Area 7-12,Minimum of five years teaching in special educationMinimum of five years as a compliance administratorIs proficient in Microsoft Excel, and Placement Screen, and has exceptional project management and data analysis skills.Strong understanding of federal and state special education rules, regulations, and practices (IDEA and Part 200).Broad knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and methodology of special education.Strong understanding of special education policies, procedures, and programs.Ability to be creative in developing alternatives to meet special education needs at each school.A track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with and among a diverse group of actors.Excellent communication skills and strong analytical and writing capabilities.Close attention to detail coupled with the ability to exercise good judgment.Strong organizational, oral, and written communication, and interpersonal skills.Proactive nature; able to anticipate conflicts before they arise.Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively.Ability to execute meetings, calls, and emails with professionalism, courtesy, and accuracy.Personal qualities of maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and diligence; andAbility to effectively allocate and prioritize time to several tasks to ensure completion of all.Essential Functions:Collaborates with building principals, special and regular education teachers, outside agencies, parents, etc. for the purpose of identifying student issues, resolving issues, receiving/conveying information, and/or developing individualized methods of instruction.Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, training, and committees for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and remaining knowledgeable with local, state, and federal program guidelines.Maintains a variety of records (confidential and non-confidential) and files for the purpose of ensuring documentation for future reference in accordance with administrative and legal requirements.Complies with all school, district, state, and federal guidelines and Mount Vernon City School Board of Education policies.Thank you for showing interest in the Mount Vernon City School District.
