The Mount Vernon City School District is seeking interested applicants to fill a vacancy for Grants Coordinator with the Office of School Improvement for the 2022-23 school year. Job Description DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Schools, and incumbent of this position shall possess the demonstrated writing skills needed to prepare and monitor grant reports related to School Improvement performance initiatives including but not limited to NYSED Title Grants and other funding sources. Information that is disseminated should align with the dictates and expectations defined by awarding funding agencies such as NYSED.The incumbent will be responsible for working closely with district and building leadership to acquire a deep understanding of the schools’ performance status in order to successfully articulate actions associated with funding expectations. This may include the ability to incorporate data presentations, graphs, text, etc. into documents.The incumbent is required to develop and demonstrate a deep understanding of the schools that are supported by the Office of School Improvement.RESPONSIBILITIES/EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative Only)Demonstrated ability to scope out projects with School Improvement Administration before writing proposals.Established ability to compile and articulate background information on the culture, economy, demographics and student performance activities of the community.Substantiated ability to target specific needs according to specific requirements and grant funding eligibility criteria.Confirmed ability to develop partnerships through collaboration among existing program partners and services to successfully achieve awarded funding.Demonstrated ability to clearly and successfully communicate how money will be spent, present line item information and manage various reports.Demonstrated experience presenting concepts, status, and information to a variety of groups (e.g. funding requests, grant applications, identifying underfunded services, etc.) for the purpose of gaining the required administrative and board approvals, providing progress reports to administration and funding sources and/or advising other staff of potential funding sources.Verified ability to design methods that measure success.Substantiated ability to articulate shared responsibilities with School district and/or other government officials if and when potential grant awards are linked to the concept of matching funds.Established ability to serve as a clearinghouse for potential grant funding opportunities.Verified ability to monitor the financial management of grants e.g. budget preparation, budget adjustments, expenditures, etc. for the purpose of complying with all program and funding guidelines of awarding organizations.Substantiated ability to develop forms, processes, procedures, and policies for the purpose of implementing a consistent grant application methodology.Substantiated ability to evaluate degree of match between listed priority area and system needs for the purpose of matching needs with funding sources.Demonstrated success performs advanced math-related spreadsheet analyses; reviews and interprets highly technical information, writes technical materials, and/or speaks persuasively to implement desired actions and analyzes situations to define issues and draw conclusions.Verified ability to successfully adapt to changing work prioritiesSubstantiated ability to meet deadlines and schedules; work independently under time constraints; set priorities whiles performing with minimal direct day-to-day supervision.Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.Review and evaluate prior year expenditures and analyze the development of program trends and their costs;Assists the business department and the Superintendent in the preparation of the district’s budget and the presentation of the budget to the Board.Recommends plans and programs for effective budget control.Prepares designated financial reports required by local, state, and federal agencies having jurisdiction over public funds: (a) Board of Trustees (b) State agencies (c) Federal agencies.Demonstrate awareness of district and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.Serve as a member of the Superintendent Cabinet and advisor on short-term and long-term financial objectives and policies.Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Superintendent may from time to time assign or delegate.QUALIFICATIONSØ Must possess current New York State School District certification, e.g. SDBL, SDL or SDAØ Exposed to DTSDE review process and written SCEP plansØ Confirmed proficiency understanding and performing accountability workØ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities on time and within a fast-paced deadline driven environmentØ Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a teamØ Substantiated proficiency using MS Office Products, e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etcØ Demonstrated self-starter who collaborates with a variety of internal and external stakeholders preparing and maintaining accurate records; utilizing a multitude of software applicationsØ Must possess excellent writing skillsØ Experience writing successful grant applications including the production of related documents e.g. required reports, budgets, specific inquires, etc. for the purpose of submitting to the appropriate funding agency NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.
