The Mount Vernon City School District is seeking interested applicants to fill a vacancy for District Treasurer with the Business Office. The ideal applicant MUST meet the following required knowledge, skills, abilities and attributes. The District Treasurer must have good knowledge of modern financial accounting and record keeping; familiarity with the laws, regulations, procedures and policies related to New York State school finances; the ability to keep financial records and prepare reports with integrity and good judgement. The Treasurer administers the fiscal affairs of the district efficiently, expeditiously and to the ultimate benefit of each student enrolled; Assists with issuing the budget preparation schedule to ALL district department heads and in reviewing and consolidating all budget requests and revenue sources to prepare and develop the budget document; verifies personally all bank accounts monthly; Revises, systematizes and installs account-keeping methods and procedures; Reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations on the accounting affairs of the district and recommends changes and improvements as necessary; Creates and prepares spreadsheets as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations, the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education. The District Treasurer MUST have a minimum of three, (3) years public school district or other municipal experience as an Accountant or Deputy Treasurer.
