The Mount Vernon City School District has an opening for the position of Director of Physical Education and health for the 2022-23 school year. The ideal applicant MUST have the following qualifications. SDL/SDA NYS Administrator Certification, NYS Physical Education Certification, a minimum of five years teaching and/or administrative experience, experience in organizing, supervising instruction and demonstrated expertise in the area. The following are some of the required common core competencies and responsibilities. Capable of leading and organizing the Health and Physical Education Departments; Capable of focusing on the needs of digital leaners and on the literacy, numeracy, fitness and health of all students; Capable of data collection, analysis and collaborating with a team of instructional specialists on the redesign of all Health and Physical Education programs. Must be able to lead and articulate the District’s scope of Health and Physical Education programs; Provides leadership in the selection, assignment and evaluation of Health and Physical Education staff members; Work collaboratively to coordinate Health and Physical Education as an integral component of the District’s instructional initiatives and collaborates with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, Technology and Building Administrators in the development of the master schedule. Supervises Health and Physical Education Teachers, the Athletic Director and Coaches. Performs other duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent, Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Technology.
