General Responsibilities: The Assistant Principal assists the Principal/s in the organization, administration and supervision of all activities connected with the school/s as this position may be split between buildings/levels. In addition this position will cover the following related to district security: Work with Administrators for building safetyManage and evaluate 21 full -time security attendants.Hire Security attendants.Organize security for after school events.Track security on time clockWork with law enforcementApproval of facility usageIn charge of district safety plan and review of building BLERPS.Work with outside vendors.Order supplies and equipment for related security.In charge of surveillance cameras, Adult and student ID’s and building access.The successful candidate will possess:A successful record of experience as an instructional leader; Current and appropriate New York State administrative SBL certification,A track record of successfully improving learning experiences for students and enhancing home/school communication,Knowledge of current researched-based practices and programs for teaching, learning, student support, assessment, and data analysis,A passionate belief in the capacity of all children to learn and succeed and a sense of urgency about making that real for MCSD students, Strong instructional foundation that has yielded success in raising student outcomes,Deep understanding of the teaching and learning process, and how to create high-performance learning environments, Personal sense of accountability around student academic progress, carried out through effective instructional leadership and staff support,Ability to understand and use data to drive decision making, Consensus building, strategic and collaborative management skills,Ability to work well under pressure,Strong communication skills,Promoting a supportive school climate and knowledge with social-emotional competencies, restorative practices, and culturally responsive education,A knowledge of elementary and/or secondary school level curriculum design and practices, which should be supported by example of direct involvement and leadership in such activities,A demonstrated knowledge of research-based systems of teacher supervision and evaluation,A demonstrated ability to provide leadership and to assist in supervising the overall operation of the school,Experience as an assistant principal or other school leader.Performs other related tasks as assigned by the direct report and/or Superintendent. The Monticello Central School District is in Sullivan County, NY, centrally located between New York City, Albany, and the Pocono Mountain region. This provides a rare combination to live in a rural setting and still be close to major metropolitan areas for recreation and work. Monticello is the largest of the eight county school districts with a multicultural enrollment of approximately 2,700 students.
