DESCRIPTIONThe Monticello Central School District is seeking a forward thinking and dynamic Principal to lead its St. John Street Community School. This leader will oversee both our preschool and alternative high school programs. Both programs are new for 2022-2023 and the successful candidate will have vision of educational excellence, be highly motivated and demonstrate an ability to impact student learning. We seek a candidate who can lead MCSD’s highly engaged faculty, staff, parents, students, and community. PURPOSETo lead and supervise the district’s prekindergarten and alternative high school programs. To continuously improve student success and staff development through collaborative leadership and success. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:1.) Current New York State administrative certification (SAS, SDA, SBL).2.) 2 years of previous administrative leadership preferred.3.) 5 years of experience as a classroom teacher. PREFERRED EXPERIENCESupporting the development of student social emotional wellnessSupporting early language and literacy acquisitionImplementing restorative practices (restorative justice, peer mediation, post-conflict resolution)Supporting implementation of curriculum centered on project-based learningEstablishing policies based on Positive Behavior Interventions and SupportsCreating, evaluating, or monitoring secondary youth internship programsBuilding intrinsic motivation within teachers, staff, and studentsProviding curriculum that supports and challenges students with disabilitiesSuccessful record of using various methods to improve student attendanceEstablishing and monitoring systems that support students academically, behaviorally, and sociallySuccessful family and community engagement RESPONSIBILITIES:Compliance with state and federal laws, board of education policies and regulations and expectations set forth by the superintendentSupervise and evaluate teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the district’s policiesSupervise, evaluate, and monitor curriculum offered at the preschool and high school programsContinuously seek workshops and opportunities to grow as the instructional leader in the buildingReview and make recommendations to the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instructionRegularly assess the climate of the building and the perspectives of all stakeholdersBuild a school culture of trust, risk-taking, responsibility, and choiceThe Monticello Central School District is in Sullivan County, NY, centrally located between New York City, Albany, and the Pocono Mountain region. This provides a rare combination to live in a rural setting and still be close to major metropolitan areas for recreation and work.
