The Massapequa Public School District is seeking passionate, creative, and highly motivated educators to apply for this position in the Superintendent’s Cabinet. The Assistant to the Superintendent for Instructional Services leads, supervises, and coordinates the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of instruction, assessment, and professional development practices for the elementary program. The position requires strong collaborative leadership skills, knowledge and experience in instructional leadership and research-based pedagogy; excellent verbal and written communication skills; innovative, flexible, and creative in problem-solving and program development.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Provide leadership and supervision to Elementary Principals and Department/Curriculum Administrators;Work with the Superintendent’s Cabinet to implement curriculum and instructional decisions that are in alignment with Board policies and support the successful achievement of the Massapequa Board of Education Goals, Vision, and Mission;Coordination of instructional supports and services to maximize student achievement and support students social, emotional, and behavior needs;Monitors and oversees formative and summative assessments for all instruction;Plays a significant leadership role in fostering professional growth of instructional and administrative staff;Supervision of all elementary instructional faculty, administrators, and support staff;Observation and evaluation of professional and support staff, as well as setting and monitoring expectations for the effective observation and evaluation of staff;Work collaboratively with the Human Resources office regarding instructional staffing levels, including the recruitment and screening of candidates;Communicate regularly with parent and community groups and co-facilitate the PTA presidents council meeting;Conduct ongoing evaluation of the instructional program with appropriate reports to the Superintendent;Develop and share informational presentations and participate in collaborative conversations with the Board of Education, administrators, parents and the community.Qualifications:NYS Certification in School District Administration (SDA, SDL) required.Minimum of three (3) years experience as a public school building principal and/or curriculum-area administrator.Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience.Superior knowledge and experience with effective instruction, curricula and pedagogy across all areas and grade levels, with a focus on elementary.Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.Experience and ability to provide effective supervision and evaluation of employees.Ability to develop, implement, and monitor long-term strategic plans.
