Science Instructional Support SpecialistMount Sinai School District is seeking an innovative and collaborative educator to serve as a Science Instructional Support Specialist. This role is designed to strengthen our district’s implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and foster high-quality science instruction across grade levels. Primary Responsibilities:Lead and support the implementation of Phenomena-Based Learning, promoting instructional practices that foster inquiry, curiosity, and real-world application of scientific concepts.Assist teachers in developing standards-based formative and summative assessments aligned with NGSS.Facilitate ongoing curriculum development and revision, ensuring units are aligned with NGSS performance expectations.Collaborate with elementary classroom teachers to deliver engaging, hands-on science experiences, integrating NGSS-aligned content and practices into daily instruction.Manage and organize science materials and supplies, including the planning and replenishment of consumables; act as a resource on instructional materials that support and enhance the science curriculum.Coordinate and support school-wide events such as the Science Fair.Help foster community connections by coordinating field trips, guest speakers, and partnerships that enrich the science curriculum.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with NGSS-aligned curriculum developmentStrong organizational and collaboration skillsNYS certification in multiple science content areas Salary: As per MSTA Contract Application Process: Mount Sinai School District is anticipating a vacancy as noted above.
