Mount Sinai Middle School Assistant Principal – AnticipatedStart Date: July 1, 2025 Certification Requirement: NYSED – SAS or SBL The Mount Sinai School District is seeking a child-centered, experienced educator to join our Leadership Team as the Middle School Assistant Principal. We are looking for a passionate educator who can inspire staff and uphold the highest standards for our middle school program. The ideal candidate will foster a nurturing, inclusive environment where every student is empowered to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, while exemplifying our building’s vision of “Celebrating #MustangPride.”Requirements:A dynamic, high energy leadership style with a thorough understanding of building administrationComprehensive knowledge of middle school curriculum and instructional methodologyAn in-depth understanding of the New York State Learning StandardsExpertise with the collection and use of data to inform educational decision makingExperience with staff evaluations under the Danielson evaluation rubricUnderstand and appreciate the academic, social, and developmental needs of middle school age children; ensure the seamless integration of SWDs into all aspects of the schoolSupport the development of effective building safety, emergency and disaster procedures, including safety inspection and drill practice schedules/activitiesProficiency using social media and digital tools to enhance and promote our educational programFoster collaboration among the professional staff, provide professional materials and implement staff development, encourage innovation; overall working to build a sense of professional communityCapacity to build/develop the master scheduleManage the student information database in PowerSchoolOversee student management with counselors, manage discipline referral system and act as the building’s DASA (Dignity for All Students Act) CoordinatorExecute the implementation of testing: NYS 3-8 Exams, Regents, local exams, etc.Coordinate the building’s co-curricular program and Grade 7 & 8 Class TripsAssist in the planning process and administer a budget to maximize the benefits of available resourcesMaintain a commitment to knowledge of current trends and best practices in middle school education through the active participation in professional associationsAbility to communicate effectively with excellent written and public speaking skillsWork collaboratively with the District’s Leadership Team and Board of Education General Information: Mount Sinai Middle School has approximately 620 students in Grades 5-8, with over 100 staff members. This is a 12-month position. Salary commensurate with experience.
