Job Description:The purpose of the Behavior Coach is to support the implementation of a continuum of social emotional promotion and prevention practices aimed at students presenting with lagging skills related to social and emotional regulation, mental wellness, and strategies for building attachment with peers and school-based staff. The continuum of supports is correlated with Tier II intervention, indicating support is required for additional teaching, modeling, and rehearsal of foundational social skills. The Behavior Coach will be responsible for providing technical assistance and coaching to school staff to understand how to recognize interpersonal conflicts that are escalating and would benefit from preventive problem solving and structured communication supports. The Coach will build rapport and engagement with parents across the school with an emphasis on students identified as not responding to Tier I practices. The SEL Interventionist will provide engagement opportunities through educational events and materials with an emphasis on supporting parent/guardian knowledge and resources to support student social and emotional development.
