WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL 12 MONTH POSITIONGENERAL DUTIESResponsible for assisting in the day-to-day building administration of the high school and the safety of both students and staff. Assists the building principal with instructional leadership. Ensures a safe and effective educational atmosphere, provides discipline as necessary, and enforces school and district policies. QUALIFICATIONSMasters DegreeNew York State Administrative Certificate (one of the following) School Administrator or Supervisor orSchool Building Leader (SBL) Administrative secondary experience preferredSUPERVISESHigh school teachers and staff members under the direction of the building principal.REPORTS TOHigh School Building PrincipalRESPONSIBILITIESObserves and evaluates high school teachers and staff membersAssists faculty in developing expertise in instructional practicesServe as a member of the Building Leadership Team with the PrincipalProvide student discipline as needed and follow through discipline referrals with teachers, parents and students Chair RTI and 504 building level meetings as neededCoordinate new student enrollments/transitions with the office staff and teachersProvide programs and activities, policies, and procedures within the building framework Understand and use data in the decision making process at the building level Work with teachers and support staff to keep accurate attendance recordsAssist in completing the building master schedules as well as testing and special event schedulesContact parents on an ongoing basis to foster positive relationships between home and schoolDevelop and implement special programs and presentations for the Mount Pleasant community, such as workshops for parents and other community groups as needed Participate on recruitment and selection committees as needed Facilitate meetings between various groups effectivelyProvide professional development to staff as neededEngages in professional activities to remain current in research-based, best practices in instruction and leadership Other responsibilities as directed by the Building Principal and/or Superintendent of SchoolsMt Pleasant offers competitive salary and benefits.
