The Mount Pleasant Central School District in Thornwood, New York is seeking a probationary Career & Technical Education Teacher for Westlake Middle School (Gr 6-8).Teachers with the following alternate FACS/CTE certifications should apply:K- 12 FACS Arts, A/V Technology & Communications 7 - 12 (5 - 6 extension preferred)Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources 7 - 12 (5 - 6 extension preferred)Business Management & Administration 7 - 12 (5 - 6 extension preferred)Hospitality & Tourism 7 - 12 (5 - 6 extension preferred)Human Services 7 - 12 (5 - 6 extension preferred)Technology Education 7 - 12 (5 - 6 extension preferred)The current curriculum and instruction centers on Family and Consumer Sciences in a classroom with fully equipped kitchen stations. This includes food safety, food preparation skills, food science, nutrition, product design, and cultural food exploration, business and entrepreneurial concepts. Students learn to problem solve, manage time, and work collaboratively to assign and fulfill roles and responsibilities.
