The Mount Pleasant Central School District in Thornwood, New York is seeking a probationary Special Education Teacher for Hawthorne Elementary School (K-2) for the 2023-2024 school year. Special Class experience preferred. Appropriate NYS Certification required. If interested, submit cover letter and resume by Friday, June 23, 2023.Responsibilities include:Working collaboratively with Behavior Consultant, Related Service Professionals and Colleagues throughout the building.Experience with behavioral methodologies including ABA programs. Experience with New York State Alternate Assessment Develop and implement classroom programs selecting appropriate methods and materials for classroom instruction in accordance with behavioral principles, curriculum and IEPs. Assist students in developing communication skills, including use of augmentative communication devices. Participate in all aspects of facilitating the development of Activities of Daily Living as appropriate to the individual needs of each student. Facilitate generalization of individually learned skills across settings while promoting inclusion in the mainstream or Least Restrictive Environment. Supervise support staff members within the classroom in assisting students in all aspects of participation in their educational program with a goal of student independence.
