Monroe-Woodbury CSD is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative K-5 Mathematics Instructional Specialist to foster excellence in math instruction across our elementary buildings. In this role, you will act as a bridge between research and practice, supporting general education teachers, special education providers, and Math Academic Intervention Services (AIS) staff. REQUIREMENTS: Must have NYS Certification in elementary Gr. K-5 Must meet NYSED Fingerprinting requirements RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will provide high-level professional guidance to ensure that every student has access to rigorous, visible, and conceptually rich mathematics instruction. Ensure the fidelity of research-based practices, specifically focusing on the importance of building concept knowledge using a gradual release of scaffolds from concrete to abstract. Partner with staff to engage in data-based decision-making including error-analysis to diagnose student misconceptions and inform instruction. Design and lead workshops and seminars on best practices in primary mathematics, providing the necessary follow-up to ensure learning is successfully implemented in the classroom. Serve as a subject matter expert on the Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards for grades K-5. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: A firm grasp of research-based math instruction and the ability to make math "visible" for diverse learners. Proven ability to analyze student work and assessment data to inform differentiated instruction. Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven track record of building trust and professional respect with colleagues. Highly organized and capable of managing multiple schedules, data sets, and professional development timelines. Previous experience facilitating professional development and providing direct classroom-based support to adult learners. EFFECTIVE: September 01, 2026
