REQUIREMENTS: NYS Certification in Special Education Gr. 2-5 Must meet NYSED Fingerprinting requirements Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: The Monroe-Woodbury Central School District is seeking a highly skilled special education teacher to lead a 15:1 self-contained elementary classroom. This role requires deep expertise in specially designed instruction and the ability to design and deliver highly individualized, skill-based instruction aligned to students’ IEP goals. Ability to manage a structured, supportive classroom environment while addressing a wide range of academic and behavioral needs. Expertise in data-driven instruction, progress monitoring, and implementation of evidence-based behavioral supports is essential. Candidates must be able to break down foundational skills, scaffold instruction effectively, and adjust in real time based on student performance. We are seeking professionals who maintain high expectations, take full ownership of student outcomes, and contribute to a collaborative, solution-oriented team. This is a demanding role that requires strong instructional practice, consistency, and a commitment to meeting the needs of students with significant challenges. Knowledge of school organization, goals and objectives, curriculum, teaching techniques, current trends, research, and materials of instruction in field of specialization Excellent knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning process Ability to infuse technology into curriculum Skilled in tracking student progress toward achieving goals and communicating progress to parents regularly Knowledge of various assessment tools (running records, etc.) Experience in differentiating instruction to meet students’ needs and encourage student growth and progress across content areas through the use of small group instruction, and targeted individual support Ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds who have diverse skills and needs Desire to grow as a part of a professional community by utilizing research-based tools, practices, and approaches to support varied means of instructional practice and delivery, student learning, and students’ overall growth and achievement Possesses exemplary interpersonal skills and tools for collaboration with all school faculty, staff, administrators, and families in service to students Other responsibilities, as assigned, based on the needs of the school and its scholars EFFECTIVE : September 2, 2026
