New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker certification required. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent rapport with children, parents, staff and a strong knowledge of child development and sound clinical judgment.RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide mandated and non-mandated school based counseling to elementary students to develop social-emotional learning skills through individual and group counseling. Develop, monitor and carry-out individualized student school based counseling goals to develop/enhance social emotional skills Develop and deliver classroom lessons as indicated to support building level and classroom social emotional needs. Provide professional development as indicated to building faculty in collaboration with building support staff and/or the Social Work Department to support adult education in the areas of social-emotional learning and mental healthCollaborate with parents, staff, administration and outside treatment providers to identify and address specific barriers to student successMake appropriate referrals to outside providers to connect families to targeted resources Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and ensure academic and behavioral support plans are developed and have measures to monitor effectiveness to ensure student growth and successProvide crisis assessment and intervention as neededParticipate in building level child study team, IEP and 504 meetings as indicated per caseload to support collaboration, planning and student growthEnsure regular communication with families and other stakeholders about student progress and adjust plans as neededPosition reports to Building Principal and Academic Administrator QUALITIES: Has demonstrated ability to advocate for students and familiesDevelops creative and innovative solutions to removing barriers to student successExceptional interpersonal skills and communication skillsStrives to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentSeeks continuous growth and learning Demonstrates strong skill set and knowledge in the area of child development and trauma related issues/practicesSound clinical knowledge and judgmentKnowledge in the area of crisis assessment and intervention
