Anticipated probationary vacancy with Rotterdam-Mohonasen Central School District, 2072 Curry Road, Schenectady, NY 12303. Living Environment Teacher at our High School. Salary as per contract. QUALIFICATIONS: Dual certification in Biology and a physical science is preferred, although qualified candidates with only a Biology certification will be considered. Teaching experience, or undergraduate/graduate experience in Environmental Science preferred but not required.EXPECTATIONS: Knowledge and a working understanding of the NGSS/NYSSLSDevelop lessons to engage students in the science curriculum with the goal of mastery of the standardsWork toward fulfilling building and district goals by supporting the science instruction of all studentsEngage parents and families in the learning process through regular communicationBe willing to become involved in the school community through participation in events, experiences, and professional committees. Possess the ability to use technology including, but not limited to, Google Workspace.QUALITIES: Be a team player within the science department as well as within the Mohonasen High School facultyBe approachable and willing to meet students where they are at academically and emotionally Demonstrate perseverance in meeting student academic needsModel a growth mindset.RESPNSIBILITIES: Promote an inclusive environment that welcomes students of all backgroundsDevelop and implement curriculum in conjunction with other subject area teachersCollaborate with other subject area teachers in order to assess student achievement on grade level assessments and benchmarksParticipate in regular PD either through the district or through external organizationsProvide academic and behavioral support to students as needed leveraging school resources and personnelMaintain accurate records as it pertains to student grades and achievement, attendance, discipline, and communication.
